What is the programme designed to do?
The programme is designed to raise awareness of energy usage in the business and provide a grant of up to £500 to implement changes that will result in reduced energy costs and a smaller carbon footprint.
It is also stimulating demand for energy efficient products, and market growth in this area.
How do we achieve this?
Businesses are offered a walk around checklist to help identify energy saving opportunities within the business and a simple application form to complete to access the funding. They can also loan a wireless energy monitor for a short period to identify where savings could be made through cutting energy usage. The main focus is for savings on heating and ventilation systems, lighting, office equipment and building fabric.
Installing an energy monitor provides an instant view on the cost of energy usage in the business. It can help warn of over-consumption, raise awareness of the electricity being used and help companies see what positive steps can be taken to cut their bills. The grant funding available stimulates SMEs to take action. It funds or part-funds them to make energy saving improvements resulting in cost savings for their business and a reduction in their carbon footprint.
Who funds the programme?
This programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

- Feedback has shown that 36% of recipients would not have taken action without the funding, and 63% were prompted to act sooner because of the grant.
- 70% of recipients have said that it has helped them make financial savings already, and 74% have much greater awareness of the energy they are using.
